I feel like today, for so many of my incredible hearts. I'm absolutely thrilled to be with you today as we kick off season four with a topic that's so close to my heart finding peace outside of a relationship. Let me start by saying I get it. I completely get that feeling. We're headed into the holiday season, a time full of cozy, couple-centric vibes and hallmark movies where everyone falls in love by the end, and if you're single, it can feel like every ad, every event, every cup of hot coffee is designed for two, but I'm here to tell you this season of singleness. It can be just as fulfilling, just as joyful and just as full of purpose as any other time. If you're feeling the pressure of couple-centered celebrations or struggling with being single right now, I want you to know that God has beautiful plans for you, right where you are. So grab your coffee, your tea, your hot cocoa and let's dive into how to not only survive but thrive as a single.

Renee Richel:

I'm going to open this podcast off with a prayer for each one of my single hearts that I obviously love working with on a daily basis and feel this is important, not only for our clients and matches, but everybody out there going through this season. Let's start out by inviting the Lord into this moment. Heavenly Father, thank you for this season and the opportunity to gather together in your name. In your name, we ask that you'll fill each heart listening with peace and joy, no matter their relationship status. Fill us with your peace and wisdom as we learn to embrace singleness and joy and purpose, and allow us to discover contentment in you. Lord, show us how to use this time to grow closer to you and help us to find true satisfaction in you, constantly reminding us that we are never alone. In Jesus' name we pray amen.

Renee Richel:

Embracing contentment in singleness is our topic today. I want to start off by sharing a story with you. A few Christmases ago, I was single. At the time, I was living far from my family. I remember going to the holiday parties alone, looking around at all the couples and feeling this anxiety in my heart. I started to think if only I had someone by my side, this season would feel more complete. Despite this anxiety, I had the best night and made lots of new friends. That night I felt God gently reminding me Renee, I'm right here. You are never without love, never without purpose and never alone. That night changed things for me. I realized I could only enjoy the holidays in my own way. I could be joyful without a plus one. That's when I discovered the beauty of fully embracing the season I was in.

Renee Richel:

Singleness is not just a waiting room where you sit around for life to start. God wants you to live fully, with purpose and joy, right where you are. Singleness is a season meant for exploration, growth and discovering your passions. Society often tells us that being single means being incomplete, like there's something we're missing. However, the Bible speaks differently, in Philippians 4, 11 through 13,. It reminds us to be content in all circumstances, knowing that true satisfaction is found in Christ alone. Contentment isn't about pretending that we don't want companionship. It's about knowing that our value, worth and joy aren't dependent on our relationship status. When we recognize that we're already complete in Christ, we're free to enjoy life fully as we are, without feeling like we're less than Embracing. Contentment means trusting that God's timing is perfect and that this season of singleness plays a part of God's ultimate plan for our life. 1 Corinthians 7, 32-34 highlights the beauty of singleness, allowing us to serve God without distraction. When we stop waiting for the next step and focus on how we can honor God in the present, singleness becomes a season of fulfillment. Think about the opportunities you have right now. You're free to discover your passion, purpose your dreams and deepen your relationship with God. This isn't the less than season. It's the season filled with potential.

Renee Richel:

One of the biggest myths that is out there is that being in a relationship will instantly make you content. However, as much as we might dream about a fairy tale ending, no one person can give you that peace that only God can provide. If we aren't content as single people, we likely won't be content in a relationship either. The purpose of singleness is about investing in the person God created you to be and the passion he puts on your heart. It's like thinking once you get that perfect job, I'll feel fulfilled, then realizing that contentment isn't just in the job, it's the outlook, it's our gratitude, it's our daily walk with God. So here's my advice let's not treat our single season as a time to hold out. Instead, let's look at it as a time to grow in the Lord. Instead of focusing on what we might be missing, focus on all God has given us right now.

Renee Richel:

I want to give you some practical tips that I think will cultivate peace during the holiday season. In Isaiah 43.1, it says fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name. You are mine. Just let that sink in for a minute. God says you are mine. He already loves you, treasures you and values you beyond measure. When we internalize that truth, we can live with a piece of confidence that no relationship status could ever provide. So this holiday season, let's wear our single status with confidence, knowing that we are not alone and we are fully loved by God. You are his masterpiece, beautifully designed with purpose and a future filled with his promises.

Renee Richel:

Now let's talk about some practical ways to cultivate peace in this season, especially as we're surrounded by a couple eccentric celebrations. One have an attitude of gratitude. Take the time every day to reflect on what you're grateful for in this season. Gratitude shifts your perspective, reminding us of all the ways God is blessing us right now. Number two plan dates with God. All right, this one might sound a little bit funny, hear me out. I think one thing that really helps is to set aside intentional time to be with God, just like you would plan a date with a partner. Find a cozy spot, grab your Bible and your favorite hot drink and spend this time in worship. Gratitude or journaling is a great way to share your love and thoughts. You'd be amazed at how fulfilling it will be to have that one-on-one time with your creator when you're in a relationship that changes and you don't have as much time as you do when you're in the singleness.

Renee Richel:

Number three celebrate community. Sometimes we feel the void more deeply when we isolate ourselves. We feel the void more deeply when we isolate ourselves. So be proactive about making plans with friends who lift you up. Invite friends over for the holiday movie night or host a Friendsgiving, building the community around you. Trust me, this is one that can be done and will fulfill what you're looking for, as a romantic relationship would, in a different way, celebrate the relationships you have that bring you love, joy and laughter. Community is a gift from God and we find so much joy in sharing time with those who love us.

Renee Richel:

Number four serve and spread joy. The holidays are a beautiful time to give back, volunteer at your local shelter, donate to a cause close to your heart or find small ways to bless others. There's nothing more powerful than taking the focus off ourselves and putting it on serving others. It fills you with joy that's hard to explain, but so real. Number five lean into God's word. When we feel alone or tempted to believe the lie that we're incomplete, god's word can bring us back to the truth. In Psalms 37.4 says delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desire of your heart. The Lord and he will give you the desire of your heart. The verse reminds us that our deepest needs are met in the Lord by focusing our gratitude, community and God's promises. We can find peace and joy during the holidays, even if our lives look different from those around us.

Renee Richel:

I know that being single during the holidays, even if our lives look different from those around us, I know that being single during the holidays can sometimes bring moments of sadness and loneliness. It's natural to have those feelings, but remember you're not alone. God is with you and he has a beautiful plan for your life, even when you can't see it today. If you're struggling with those feelings, ask him to fill you with his peace and joy and surround yourself with a support system that loves and encourages you. Let's be real being single during the family gatherings can sometimes come with those awkward questions. You know so. Are you dating anyone, or when are you going to settle down? It's easy to feel the pressure to give an answer or to feel like your single status needs defending. Here's a little tip. Have some fun with it. You don't have to explain yourself. Instead, turn the conversation into something positive. If someone asks so, when are you going to settle down, try responding with this. I'm already settled in the best way possible. I am dating Jesus right now. I use this for all of my singles as we're starting to find them true love, that they are off the market. Dating Jesus right now. Dating Jesus right now.

Renee Richel:

Sometimes people just need a reminder that being single doesn't mean we're incomplete or we're waiting for life to start. We're thriving right where we are. The beauty of being single, saved and satisfied is the freedom to live fully in God's love without needing someone else to validate your worth. Another essential part of being single, saved and satisfied is knowing who you are in Christ. When you build your identity on God's love and purpose for you, it changes everything. Psalms 139 tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made, created with purpose and fully loved by our Creator. The truth allows us to move through life with confidence, knowing that our worth doesn't depend on our relationship status. We are already whole, valued and loved beyond measure. There's no need to wait for a relationship to feel complete. Embrace the confidence that comes from knowing you're loved by God and you don't need to become someone for someone else. You are already a beloved child of God. To conclude all of this, if you're feeling any anxiety or loneliness in this season, remember that God is the ultimate source of peace. This season of singleness is not a punishment or a second choice. It is a divine opportunity to draw closer to him, discover more about yourself and live with a sense of purpose and freedom.

Renee Richel:

I'd like to close with prayer. Lord, thank you, every person listening to this today. Remind them that they are fully loved, fully valued and fully seen by you. Help us to find joy and satisfaction in this season, knowing you are everything we need and you have beautiful plans for each of us. You have beautiful plans for each of us. Strengthen us with your love and peace and let us rest in knowledge that we are enough just as we are. We ask that you help each person listening to find peace, joy and purpose in this season of singleness. Remind us we are complete, that as we move towards your love, lord, to strengthen us and to boldly encourage us to be confident, trusting your perfect timing in all things.

Renee Richel:

In Jesus' name, amen, I hope you feel encouraged, loved and ready to embrace this season of singleness with confidence and joy. Remember, being single, saved and satisfied is a gift. It's a precious time you have with God, individually, fueling your heart, mind, body and spirit with his love to give love, to also receive the love that he has planned for you.
